Elbow latch

basic defense posture while choking: Chin to chest / Pull up shoulders / Tense neck muscles

  • Initial situation
    • The aggressor is located in front of the defender
    • Two handed strangulation in the stand

  • Loosen grip
    • bilateral, circling striking movement with the forearms from below and from the inside to the outside against the forearms of the aggressor

  • Defense technique
    Elbow latch, Kanuki gatame
    • One hand circling further around the dissolved arm about 180 °, so that the forearm comes under the elbow of the aggressor.
    • Here, the wrist of the aggressor is blocked under the armpit of the rotated arm
    • The other hand is placed on the shoulder of the fixed arm
    • The hand of the rotated arm grips the own forearm
    • By raising the forearm, the elbow joint of the aggressor will be with levered with Kanuki gatame.

  • Completion
    • If applicable, with this technique, a short-term transport is possible ...
    • ... or the aggressor is brought to the ground.
