Hizi Ate – Elbow strikes

Elbow strikes or shocks are techniques for close combat or for the close range. The force resulting from the rotation of the forearm and the strongly bent elbow. The power comes also from the hip. Elbow strikes are in different directions and in both, horizontally as well as vertically possible. They offer themselves for rear attacks well and are primarily targeted here against the Solar plexus or stomach area.

Elbow strikes can be divided as follows:

  • Age hizi uchi - Elbow strike vertical forward
  • Mae hizi uchi - Elbow strike horizontal forward
  • Ushiro hizi uchi - Elbow strike backwards
  • Otoshi hizi uchi - Elbow strike downwards
