Jodan age uke - Upper forearm block

Jodan age uke, is a forearm block against strikes and shocks which aim at the head. It is executed in a horizontal position of the forearm. As a target surface here acts the muscular, lower inside forearm area. The block can also be used as a sweeping technique (Barai), for this purpose the attacking arm of the aggressor will be forwarded immediately after the block in the direction of the elbow of the blocking arm to the body outside.

The following variant of Uchi uke is possible:

  • Jodan age barai uke - The blocking forearm is turned directly after contact with the attacking extremity in a sweeping movement.
