Hand lever: Kote mawashi - Hand twist lever

Advantage:

  • Technique is fast to solve
  • No change of techniques (defense - fixation)
  • Technique is fast attachable

Disadvantage:

  • Single point of contact is the wrist
  • Control only over pain

Here the aggressor is brought to the ground by a variant of the hand twist lever (Kote mawashi) and also fixed by it in the supine position. The defense technique in the stand will be continued until the aggressor is in the ground and the same technique will be used for fixation.

Use at diagonal grip to the wrist:

The aggressor grips the diagonal opposite wrist of the defender. The defender fixes the fingers (not the back of the hand) of the attacking hand with inside of his other hand on the own forearm (Spoke bone) by strong pressure.

By a rotation of the gripped arm from the inside, below to the outside above and a simultaneous grip to the forearm, as far to the wrist as possible, with the attacked hand, the wrist of the aggressors is bended in an 90° angle. There is a distance shortening towards the aggressor applied. Doing this the elbow joint of the fixed arm is bended also about 90°.

The defender bends his upper body to the front to let the lever take effect. The aggressor must kneel by this movement. There is executed a corresponding pull forward, so the aggressor can be brought into the prone position.

The defender kneels in a approximately 45° angle to the longitudinal axis of the aggressors at the top of the head. Doing this the elbow of the fixed arm is clamped between the knees. During the whole phase of the taking down, the initially applied grip at the wrist of the aggressor will not be loosed or changed.

The technique corresponds to the 1st fixation technique at the supine position, but here the aggressor is pulled into the prone position!
