Seoi otoshi - back drop

TORI's position of the arms resembles kata seoi. It follows the same turning in as on Kata seoi, but TORI places his right foot behind the right foot outside of UKE. During the turning in he puts his right knee on the ground, so his calf is in contact with UKE's ankle. TORI's shin is stretched backwards on the floor. The contact points of TORI's shoulders and back with UKE in this technique are much more oriented to the side as in kata seoi. TORI has therefore much less contact with the chest of UKE.

The throw takes place over the shoulder of TORI, where his knee contact with the ground must not be lost. By pulling from TORI's hands, the weight of UKE is broken forward so UKE stands on his toes before the fall.

Usage:
The technique is very well applicable if the attack comes from behind (e.g. grip, choking) . But even after a successful high inner forearm block the attacker can be bring down well with kata seoi. The advantage here is that you kneel after the throw next to the attacker and it is possible to execute a corresponding fixing technology faster.
