Neck lever: Yoko kubi hisigi - lateral neck bending

Advantage:

  • Possibility for fast approach of the technique
  • The aggressor can be quickly brought to the ground
  • The defender can walk forward

Disadvantage:

  • Lack of overview of the surrounding area
  • Unsuitable for people with strong neck muscles

Here the aggressor is fixed and transported by a lateral neck lever (Kubi kansetzu waza).
At persons with strong neck and upper arm muscles or persons who are considerably lager or smaller than the defender, this technique is not suitable. The aggressor is able to resist the transportation grip with the use op power.

Use at a normal slap on the face:

The slap to the face is blocked with a inner forearm block (Uchi uke).

The other hand dives under and behind the striking arm and leads the striking arm with the back of the hand in the striking direction. The defender steps at the same time to the front so he is located at the side of the aggressor; the striking arm is furthermore blocked. The blocking hand of the defender will be lead under the striking arm, around the neck of the aggressor. The other hand blocks the upper arm of the striking arm and grips after the wrap around the neck the own hand at the area of the opposite lateral neck of the aggressors.

Through a lateral sidestep backward (from the view of the aggressor), the aggressor will be bend backwards. The gripped hands of the defender pull at the lateral neck of the aggressor diagonal downwards, backwards, during a back pressure with the own head is build up at the side of the head. The shoulder of the defender presses strongly against the blocked upper arm.

The aggressor can be transported by the help of this neck lever. Important is, that the bending backwards of the aggressor is still available.
