Shoulder lever: Kata ude hisigi - Bend arm with shoulder

Advantage:

  • fast approach of the technique
  • The defender can walk forward

Disadvantage:

  • The defender can not see the aggressor
  • The other arm of the aggressor is not controlled
  • Not executable by physically larger persons

The technique is applied by an elbow stretch lever (Ude kansetzu wwaza) to transport the aggressor.
Persons who are physically much larger then the defender, the technique is not applicable, because the arm of the aggressor can not be hold horizontal. The aggressor can escape from the lever by stepping forwards.

Use at a normal slap on the face:

The slap on the face is blocked with a inner forearm block (Uchi uke). The blocking hand grips after performing the block the wrist of the striking arm and stretches the arm of the aggressors by strong pulling.

By lifting the stretched arm, the defender is able to dive under the arm by a 180° body rotation away from the aggressorg and lie the arm with the elbow joint on the opposite shoulder. The arm of the aggressors stays during the movement continuous stretched. During the rotation movement the free hand of the defender fixes the elbow of the aggressor from the outside.

The gripping hand presses the arm of the aggressor over the shoulder downwards, doing this the pressure is supported by the other hand. The arm of the aggressors will be rotated outwards. The supporting arm of the defender will be lifted and is located in a 90° angle to the own body, to avoid a sliding away of the fixed arm.

To ensure a secure transportation, the aggressor must be lifted by the leverage onto the toe tips.
