Elbow lever: Gayaku ude garami - reverse arm control

Advantage:

  • The defender can keep the overview
  • The defender can walk forward
  • The aggressor can brought easyly to the ground

Disadvantage:

  • difficult to appoach
  • Bad releasability

The technique is applied by an elbow stretch lever (Ude kansetzu wwaza) to transport the aggressor. The technique is a variant of Ude garami.
At persons with thick and/or short arms, this technique is not applicable, because the approache to the technique is maybe difficult or not practicable.

Use at a normal slap on the face:

The slap on the face is blocked by an inner forearm block (Uchi uke). The hand of the blocking arm grips after performing the block the wrist of the striking arm and rotates the arm outwards, doing this the arm is pulled parallely to stretch the arm.

The defender steps forwards, so that he is located at the side of the aggressor and leads his other arm over the stretched arm of the aggressor. The hollow of the elbow is in the armpit of the defender. During a 90° body rotation toward the aggressor, the not fixing hand is lead around the arm of the aggressor to the front and grips into the opposite side of the neck or the collar.

The other hand can now loose the fixed hand and e.g. pesses the head of the aggressor lateraly away from the defender. By twisting the arm and the body near to the aggressor a fixation of the hand is not necessary anymore.
